Santander Profit Up 38 Percent as Loan Losses Fall by CHAD BRAY

The Spanish bank reported second-quarter net income of €1.45 billion, or about $1.95 billion, outpacing the €1.05 billion it earned in the same period in 2013 as it benefited from an improving economic environment.
